The Bentwood MGA is excited to introduce its first Ryder Cup style event, a two-day team competition featuring Team Green vs Team White, representing the club colors.
The event will include 32 MGA members competing in a match play format over two days. Players will qualify through a season-long points race based on MGA tournament participation and performance.
The Bentwood MGA Ryder Cup is designed to become a new club tradition and one of the most exciting events of the year.
The event will feature:
The Ryder Cup will be played over two days using a match play format.
The first team to reach 16.5 points will win the Bentwood MGA Ryder Cup.
Players will qualify for the Bentwood MGA Ryder Cup through a season-long points race based on official MGA events throughout the year.
Standings will be updated after each MGA event and posted on the website so members can follow the race all season.
The top 24 players in the standings will qualify automatically, and additional players will be selected to complete the teams.
The Bentwood MGA Ryder Cup is intended to represent the full MGA membership, not simply the lowest handicap players.
Since Bentwood MGA events are organized into flights based on handicap and age, Ryder Cup points will be awarded based on a player’s finish within his flight at each event.
This allows members from different flights and skill levels to compete for Ryder Cup qualification throughout the season.
The goal is to identify the golfers who have performed well, supported MGA events, and earned their place in the Ryder Cup field.
The Ryder Cup field is not simply the best 24 golfers by handicap.
Qualification is based on:
This format is intended to create broad member engagement and a competitive event that reflects the Bentwood MGA as a whole.
Players earn Ryder Cup points based on their finish within their assigned flight at each MGA event.
The MGA Championship will carry additional weight as a major event.
This structure rewards both performance and consistent participation across the season.
To be eligible for Ryder Cup qualification, a player must:
The Bentwood MGA Ryder Cup field will consist of 32 total players
This allows the event to reward performance across the season and build competitive teams for match play.
Team captains and additional event details will be announced later in the season.
